The satay chicken is a dish of Malay origin (from Malaysia so!). These are skewers of marinated meat accompanied by satay sauce.
This satay chicken recipe is a typical Malaysian recipe. It is usually accompanied by fragrant rice. Satay sauce is a mixture of coconut milk with peanut butter and spices. You can buy any ready or follow our recipe for an easy and fragrant home version that will make you travel. It will allow you to make a satay chicken on skewers.

Serves 4 people
- 4 chicken breast
- 100g peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon chilli powder
- 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
- 1 lemongrass stalk, very finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons ground ginger
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1 sprig fresh coriander well chopped
- 10cl unsweetened coconut milk
- 10g sugar
Preparation of the chicken Satay
Cut the chicken breast into cubes.
Prepare the marinade by mixing the oil, the turmeric, the sugar, the lemongrass and one tablespoon of ginger in a bowl.
Add the chicken cubes and leave to marinate for 20 mins.
During this time, prepare the satay sauce. Pour the coconut milk, the chilli, the peanut butter and one tablespoon of ginger into a saucepan.
Bring the pan to the boil, remove it from the heat and add the coriander.
Keep to one side.
Pierce the chicken cubes on bamboo skewers, then grill them in a lightly oiled pan or on a barbecue.
Serve your skewers with the satay sauce.
