Indian bread (Naan)

New recipe incredibly easy: Indian bread! This bread recipe is perfect to accompany your Indian dishes or spicy food. They are delicately scented with cumin. In addition you can not miss them, it’s too easy!

Preparation time: 75 minutes Cooking time: 8 minutes

For four Indian breads (naans)

  • 200g flour
  • ½ a teaspoon of salt
  • 5g dry baker’s yeast
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • ½ plain yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 30g melted butter

Préparation of the Indian bread

In a salad bowl, start by mixing the flour, the salt and the yeast.

Add the beaten egg.

Add the yoghurt and mix until smooth.

Mould the dough into a ball by hand.

Wrap the dough with a plastic wrap and leave it for an hour.

Divide the dough into four parts.

Rub cumin into each of the parts, then mould them into the shape of a flattened drop of water.

Preheat your grill. Place the four dough parts on a baking tray and coat them in melted butter.

Put them in the oven and grill for around three minutes on each side.

Naan bread originally comes from Asia. The cheese version served in Indian restaurants in France is a purely French invention.
