The authentic French baguette made easy

Ingredients for the easy French baguette

  • 400g all purpose flour
  • 6g dry yeast (or 12g fresh yeast)
  • 280 ml water
  • 8g salt

Preparation of the French baguette easy

Dilute the dry yeast in lukewarm water. 

Mix the flour with the salt.

Mix and knead by hand until the dough no longer sticks to your hands. (Around 10 minutes). You can also knead with the food processor by using the hook. (10 minutes as well, but you won’t get your exercise!)

Cover and let it rest at least 1h30 min.

Preheat the oven to 240 °c. (450 °F).

Fill a baking sheet with water and put it in the lower part of your oven. 

Flour a work surface and cut the dough in half by rolling it in the flour so that it does not stick to your fingers. Then form 2 medium size baguettes on the baking sheet topped with parchment paper. 

You can also use floured baguette molds

When your oven is hot, bake for 25 to 30 min.

PS: You may wonder why to put water in the oven. When heated, water will create steam and this will give you a nice golden baguette crust. So don’t skip this step!
